Other Services
The Spine Center offers not only surgical
treatment, but also a host of other services including:
Neurology
As the medical specialists who deal with the brain, nerves, and
muscles, neurologists are particularly adept at treating both acute
and chronic pain. Neurological diseases include conditions such as
multiple sclerosis, stroke, epilepsy, peripheral neuropathy,
restless leg syndrome, migraine headache, carpal tunnel syndrome,
and chronic regional pain syndrome. The neurologist on the Spine
Center staff helps diagnose these difficult cases and determine
appropriate treatment.
Physical Medicine
and Rehabilitation (PMR)
The Spine
Center has two board-certified physiatrists on staff who are
trained in the diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of
musculoskeletal and neurological injuries. Functional improvement
is a goal of their treatment plan. They coordinate treatment
options among providers to ensure comprehensive care within a team
setting.
Osteopathic
Manipulative Medicine (OMM)
An increasing body of medical literature supports the effectiveness
of this century-old manual healing approach. OMM, which helps boost
the body's natural ability to heal itself, can be an effective
component in treating injuries, particularly those resulting from
motor vehicle accidents, falls, and other types of trauma. Our
physicians frequently are asked to speak both nationally and
internationally on the subject of OMM.
Acupuncture
This time-tested Eastern healing tradition can
play an important role in conjunction with other treatment
modalities. Performed by a physician, acupuncture is useful in
treating conditions such as muscle and tendon injuries.
