Medical Student Clerkship
St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC) offers select clinical rotations to medical students enrolled in US medical schools. We are not approved by the California Medical Board to accept students or observers from international medical schools.
St. Mary’s has student affiliation agreements with both the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) and Creighton University School of Medicine. Most ward teams have 1-2 third-year medical students at any given time.

Pulmonary Medicine (ID #140.48)
-Fourth-year elective / designed to introduce students to evaluation and management of patients with a variety of pulmonary diseases.

UCSF Longitudinal Clinical Experience LCE Course (ID# 111)
-Third-year Ambulatory elective / a number of sessions (22) in the Continuity Clinic, Sr Mary Philippa Health Center (SMMC) for the underserved urban minority populations.
