St. Mary's Intensive Care Unit is a 22 bed
unit equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring
equipment and one negative pressure room designated to
the care of the patient requiring respiratory
isolation.
The all-Registered Nurse staff holds BLS and ACLS certifications
and many hold the CCRN Certification from the American
Association of Critical Care Nursing. ICU RN's have to
complete annual competencies, making them experts in the care of

the patient diagnoses to both the patient and family
members. Pre-operative and post-operative education is
given to surgery and procedure patients.
Staffing is based upon state regulations of 1:1 or 1:2
depending on the level of the patient's illness. A charge
nurse is available on all shifts to coordinate staffing and
patient care.
