The Department of Medical Education at St. Mary's Medical Center offers education and training in internal medicine in a University of California San Francisco-affiliated community hospital. Our rigorous, well-rounded, and rewarding three-year categorical internal medicine program prepares graduates for careers in primary care, hospitalist medicine, and academic medicine, as well as fellowship training in the internal medical subspecialties. We also offer one-year preliminary medicine training in preparation for careers in diverse specialties such as radiology, anesthesiology, physical medicine/rehabilitation, ophthalmology, neurology, and dermatology. Our residents are provided with a wide range of educational experiences at our own campus, the hospitals of UCSF, and in the offices of our community-based faculty.
