You may need physical therapy to help complete
your recovery if you have surgery, an injury, or a major illness.
Physical therapists put special emphasis on teaching patients so
you can fully participate in your own recovery. They can also help
determine when you are ready to return to your normal activities
without the risk of reinjury.
A San Francisco institution for almost 150
years, St. Mary's Medical Center has earned a reputation for
delivering high-quality, personalized health care. Our physical
therapists collaborate with outstanding specialists and medical
professionals both at the medical center and in the community.
Patients have easy access to X-rays, MRIs, and other tests, if
needed.
Personalized
Care
At your initial visit to St. Mary's, a licensed physical therapist
will conduct a comprehensive evaluation and develop a treatment
plan based on your specific needs and goals. Your treatment plan
may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, education in
proper body mechanics, and workplace ergonomics.
You will be assigned a primary physical
therapist who will coordinate your treatment plan. Throughout your
care, your physical therapist will communicate with your referring
physician regarding your progress and consult about any changes to
your treatment plan.
Dedicated Experts
The Physical Therapy Department cares for a full range of
musculoskeletal conditions and offers a broad array of outpatient
services from injury prevention and treatment to postsurgical
rehabilitation. Our experienced, caring professionals work closely
as a team with one common goal - to help you return to your normal
activities as quickly as possible.
