Spine Center


Medical Staff


The Spine Center is staffed by a seasoned, multidisciplinary medical team, including nationally recognized spine surgeons, Drs. Ken Hsu, Dimitriy Kondrashov and James Zucherman. All three surgeons have experience in innovative procedures and technologies such as X STOP, Pro-Disc and FlexiCore. Additionally, our highly trained physiatrists treat and consult on spine conditions from a non-surgical perspective.  They offer treatment options ranging from acupuncture to spinal blocks.

Jerel Glassman, DO
American Board of Osteopathic Medicine; American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Education: Dr. Glassman received his medical degree from Michigan State Univ. and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C. In addition he completed a masters in public health at the Univ. of Michigan.

Masami Hattori, MD, MPH
American Society of Anesthesiology
Education: Dr. Hattori received his medical degree from the Univ. of Calif. San Francisco and completed a surgery internship at the Univ. of Hawaii. He then received a masters in public health from the Univ. of Calif. Berkeley. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the Univ. of Calif. Irvine and then a fellowship in pain medicine at the Univ. of Calif. San Francisco.





Ken Hsu, MD

American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery
Education: Dr. Hsu received his medical degree from State Univ. of New York. He then completed a residency in general surgery at Mt. Zion Hospital and an orthopaedic surgery residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center, both in San Francisco. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in Spine and Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at the Univ. of Hong Kong. Dr. Hsu is one of the inventors of the X-Stop® device for lumbar stenosis and has been the Director of Spine Services at St. Mary’s Spine Center since 1988.

Dimitriy Kondrashov, MD
American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery
Education: Dr. Kondrashov received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center campus. He also completed a spine surgery fellowship at St. Mary’s Medical Center and at Stanford Univ.   

Judy Silverman, MD
American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; Electrodiagnostic Medicine and Pain Medicine
Education: Dr. Silverman received her medical degree from the Univ. of Washington Medical School in Seattle. She completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Univ. of Wisconsin where she was chief resident.




Quoc Vo, DO
American Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
Education: Dr. Vo received his medical degree from Western Univ. of Health Sciences in Pomona, Calif. He completed his residency in osteopathic manipulative medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, N.Y. where he was chief resident.




James Zucherman, MD
American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery
Education: Dr. Zucherman received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed a general surgery residency at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco. Additionally, he completed a spine surgery fellowship at the Duchess of Kent Children's Orthopaedic Hospital at the Univ. of Hong Kong in 1982. Dr. Zucherman is one of the inventors of the X-Stop® device for lumbar stenosis and is a founding member of the St. Mary’s Spine Center.
