Are you a candidate for weight-loss surgery?
Patients who qualify for Bariatric surgery generally have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or higher. For a person of average height, a BMI of 40 corresponds to being at least approximately 100 pounds over ideal weight. As an exception, a person whose BMI is between 35 and 40 can qualify if he or she has a significant obesity-related disease such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, etc.
