Catherization Laboratory
Our cardiac catheterization labs - including a
new facility constructed in 2000 - feature two all digital
labs with advanced technology for diagnosis and treatment of
patients with heart disease.
Some treatments
offered in the Cath Lab:
- balloon angioplasty or valvuloplasty: to
open narrowed or blocked vessels
- intercoronary stenting (also know as drug
eluting or coated stent): a device is implanted in the vessel for
improved blood flow
- rotablation, in which a device is inserted
into the vessel to break up calcified deposits
- "clot-busting" thrombolytics medications:
used to break down blood clots in the heart or blood
vessels.
For patients who speak a language other than
English, interpreters are available. Our cath lab also features a
comfortable waiting area for friends and family
members.
